Our Story

“We’re a ZEBRA family” That is how our then five-year-old son described us.  We are a family of mzungu parents and grandparents, mzungu children, and adopted-Ugandan children. THAT is how we became a zebra family. Our journey to Africa began in 2004 with a visit to Amani Baby Cottage to visit family. Later that year, we were blessed to bring home two infants from the Cottage.  Those two infants are now eight years old, Americans, and even an uncle and aunt!  After visiting Uganda in 2010, we knew we wanted to be in Africa long term. Our hearts were taken by the people in that country. So, our story begins here today, going as missionaries to Uganda. There is a new orphanage to build, families to unite and children to love. We are blessed to be going on such a journey. Oh by the way, just in case you are new to African words: mzungu means white person! Now you understand the zebra!

  2. We are praying for you dear friends. You are a beautiful family inside and out. We have been blessed for the step you took in 2004 by bringing David and Courtney into our family and we are being blessed again by the step you are taking moving to Uganda.
